European Investment Bank (EIB)

The EIB is the bank of the European Union, and invests in projects in more than 130 other countries around the world. The bank helps the EU meet its objectives globally including to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals, and aims for the highest developmental impact: getting other investors on board for projects and initiatives that bring support to microenterprises and start-ups as well as larger companies and key infrastructure.

The EIB Group also has a longstanding record in microfinance through the activities of the EIB, the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the EIB Institute.
