From October 15 to 17, 2018
From 9.00 to 17.00
At the Centre Africain d’Etudes Supérieures en Gestion (CESAG) in Dakar, Senegal

These highly interactive workshops are intended for MFIs with different profiles and active in the same region or country, whose managers wish to familiarize themselves with the calculation and interpretation of financial ratios.

The workshops allow them to obtain an on-site analysis of key performance indicators and to return home with practical and immediately usable tools. It should be noted that the actual financial data of the participating MFIs are used in this training.

Content

The workshop lasts 3 days and includes the following objectives:

  • Performance analysis in microfinance. Key performance indicators in the following areas: portfolio quality, efficiency and productivity, financial management, profitability and social performance.
  • Improving the ability to interpret ratios, analyse financial trends, position oneself in the sector (benchmarks) and identify the main risks to be mitigated.
  • Exchange of knowledge and experience between participating MFIs

Methodology

  • The session is based on a specific didactic approach that encourages interactivity and participation and exchange.
  • Exercises and applications relay the presentations in order to permanently fix the concepts in the participants' memories.
  • Using the BCEAO Factsheet: a GIS tool to calculate ratios and produce graphs
  • Workshops will allow the immediate implementation of the concepts discussed.
  • Delivery of training materials in paper and digital formats.
