Our projects

ADA develops and field tests new microfinance products and services that aim to better meet the diverse needs of clients and contribute to increasing their income. Innovation efforts focus on key themes: agricultural and rural finance, digital finance, support for young entrepreneurs and inclusive insurance.

ADA analyses requirements and develops new products in cooperation with its field partners – the microfinance institutions. Launching these innovative products on the market guarantees a wider access to target populations. It also represents an opportunity for the microfinance institutions adopting them to offer a wider range of products and services. Diversification provides them with new sources of income and contributes to strengthening their financial viability.

Some customer groups such as young entrepreneurs or migrants have specific financial requirements. It is therefore essential to be able to offer them the suitable products and services.

ADA constantly aims to pass on its expertise and methodology to its partners so that, in the long term, they may innovate independently. Innovating in inclusive finance enables ADA to take action, in line with the needs of those who are excluded from the traditional financial system.

Agricultural finance

The agricultural microfinance project was launched in 2017, aiming at mitigating the lack of financial products specifically designed for agricultural activities. In 2 years, ADA and its partners have been able to work out and test various financial products which, after the pilot phase, could serve 2 million customers in 4 countries (Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast).

Digital Finance: enhancing innovation

Whether as a means of reaching people in areas that are difficult to access, of offering fast and secure services to customers, or of reducing costs, the opportunities offered by digital solutions are numerous and promote financial inclusion. For this reason, ADA helps microfinance institutions (MFIs) integrate digital solutions into their strategies. In Africa, through the Digital Finance Initiative, and in Central America and the Caribbean.

Supporting young entrepreneurs

ADA supports young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 in terms of job creation, economic development and resilience within local communities. Through the various projects it has developed up to date, ADA has learnt lessons in order to offer solutions that are increasingly adapted to the needs of young entrepreneurs. These new projects will continue in West Africa and Central America, two regions where the needs are great.

Inclusive insurance

With more than 600 million customers covered worldwide, representing 20% of the vulnerable population, inclusive insurance is now a real response to the protection needs of the most vulnerable populations. Multiple initiatives are emerging, but the sector is always looking for more innovative models for greater efficiency and impact. In view of the diversity of risks faced by vulnerable populations and based on its experience, ADA wishes to contribute to inclusive insurance through innovative solutions in terms of products, distribution channels and partnerships.
